ATTACHMENT & REMOVAL |
Below, you can read about how to attach the various hair extensions, and what might be useful for you to bear in mind for each method of attachment.
ATTACHING PRE BONDED HAIR EXTENSIONS
Section the hair. Using a protection shield, take a thin strand of your own hair. Place the pre-bonded hair strand underneath it and melt together with a hair extension iron for keratin wax. When the wax has melted, roll up the attachment with your own hair and give it a good squeeze. Make sure that there is wax all the way around the hair strand and that there is no air inside the attachment. Repeat the procedure strand by strand and section by section. Start at the neck and work upwards.
REMOVING PRE BONDED HAIR EXTENSIONS
Apply the remover to the attachment and leave to work. Firmly clamp the attachment with remover pliers. Then gently pull or comb out the pre-bonded extension. Repeat the procedure on any remaining strands.
When using pre-bonded hair extensions, you need to be careful not to expose the attachments to heat. A long spell in direct sunlight, heat from the hair dryer or hot water, for example, can melt or loosen the attachments. The same applies to hair products on the attachments. Brush and untangle your hair with your fingers daily – both the lengths and the attachments – to prevent tangling.
ATTACHING TAPE HAIR EXTENSIONS
How to attach tape hair extensions: Wash your hair with only shampoo (no conditioner or oil) and dry your hair. Section your hair. Remove the protective film from a strand and place it against the lower edge of the parting. Lift up the strand and remove any loose hair. Place another strand of tape hair under the first so that they are sitting tape to tape with your own hair in between them. Press firmly, prefarably with pliers. Repeat along the parting and then proceed along a new parting until you are satisfied with the number of hair extensions you have.
When attaching the tape hair extensions, be careful not to touch the tape with your fingers once you have removed the protective film. And remember not to place the strands too close to your scalp, and avoid placing too much of your own hair between the tape hair extensions.
REMOVING TAPE HAIR EXTENSIONS
Apply remover to the entire attachment and massage it in. Separate the strands with your fingers or using a comb. Use more remover if necessary and then remove the tape hair strands. Apply remover to any remnants. Repeat the procedure on each strand.
The tape is sensitive to heat and hair products, so avoid these close the attachments. Brush your hair often and remove any tangles.
ATTACHING MICRO RING HAIR EXTENSIONS
To attach micro ring hair extensions, you will need a pair of pliers and ideally a tail comb. Section your hair and take out a small strand of your own hair using the comb. Pull the strand of your own hair through the loop on the micro ring hair extension. Then pull the loop through the micro ring and ensure that the micro ring ends up about 1 cm from the scalp. Use the pliers to clamp the micro ring. The micro ring should be clamped so firmly that it flattens.
When attaching the micro ring hair extension, remember to put the correct amount of your own hair through the micro ring. You should feel some resistance when you pull the hair through the micro ring. If you take too little or too much hair, the micro ring will not attach properly.
REMOVING MICRO RING HAIR EXTENSIONS
Use the pliers to squeeze the micro ring in the opposite direction so that it opens. Pull the micro ring hair strand out of your hair and repeat on the remaining strands.
ATTACHING NANO HAIR EXTENSIONS
Start by sectioning the hair. Thread a couple of nano rings onto the hair hook. Using a tail comb, take a strand of your own hair and pull it through the micro ring. Then pull the hair through the nano ring. Place a nano hair extension in the nano ring and squeeze together with a pair of pliers. Be sure to give the nano ring a good squeeze.
REMOVING NANO HAIR EXTENSIONS
Use the pliers to squeeze the nano ring in the opposite direction so that it opens. Pull the nano hair strand out of your hair and repeat on the remaining strands.
Remember to avoid heat and hair products close to the attachment as this can loosen the wax encasing the metal loop.
ATTACHING WEFT HAIR EXTENSIONS
Example of how a weft hair extension can be attached
Glue: Section the hair where you wish to attach the extension. Cut the weft hair extension to the required length. Apply hair extension glue to both the hair weft and your own hair, just below the parting. Firmly press the hair weft in place. Repeat until you are satisfied with the amount of hair.
Weave: Section the hair. Make a braid horizontally along the parting and secure it. Cut the weft hair extension to the required length. Thread a curved needle and sew the weft to the braid. Repeat the process until you are satisfied with the amount of hair. Start at the neck and work upwards.
Micro rings: Section the hair where you wish to attach the weft hair extension and cut to the length required. Thread a micro ring onto a hook for micro rings. Place the hair weft against the lower side of the parting. Use the hook to pick up a strand of your own hair and a strand of the hair weft. Thread the hair through the micro ring and squeeze with pliers.
REMOVING WEFT HAIR EXTENSIONS
See instructions of pre bonded hair extensions or micro ring hair extensions. Weave is removed by cutting the tread and removing the braid.
ATTACHING PONYTAIL
Make a ponytail of your own hair. Attach the comb to the ponytail and then close the Velcro strap around it. Attach the end with a hair pin.
REMOVING PONYTAIL
Unzip the Velcro strap and lift off the ponytail.
Take out the hair when you work out, shower and sleep. Comb through every day and remove any tangles. You can style your hair just as you normally do and wash it by hand in lukewarm water with special hair extension shampoo and conditioner.
ATTACHING CLIP IN HAIR EXTENSIONS

Open the clips on the clip-in section and hook them onto the back-combed hair, pressing the clips to close them. Continue in the same way with the other sections. Start at the neck and work upwards, followed by the sides.
